ABOUT US
CMC was founded over 30 years ago by Paul McCann, CEO of ARA Property Services today. CMC came to ARA with an outstanding group of clients and contracts. ARA Property Services is principally known as a commercial cleaning business that also offers other integrated property maintenance services.
In 2013, CMC Property Services had expanded their property maintenance and emergency response services nationally to reach more of their clients.
In 2015, Michael O’Loughlin and Paul McCann had founded the CMC Indigenous Services division, which is known as ARA Indigenous Services today. This partnership was the beginning of the ARA Group’s objective to increase First Nations and Indigenous employment and engagement.
Effective 1st May 2017, ARA acquired 100% of the CMC Property Services Group.
1994CMC Property Services was founded by Paul McCann who remains the CEO of ARA Property Services today.
2004Certified in ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 4801 OHS and ISO 14001 Environmental.
2006Developed our first bespoke IT Solution, eCRM – to change the face of customer service and become innovators and leaders in our field.
2013Started delivering integrated property maintenance and emergency response services, nationally.
2013Secured large work packages of Australia Post National Cleaning Contract adding to a considerable growth phase.
2014Partnered with Very Special Kids and maintains a long-standing partnership.
2015CMC Indigenous Services (now ARA Indigenous Services) formed by Paul McCann and former Sydney Swans superstar Michael O’Loughlin.
2015Winner at Annual FMA Industry Awards for Excellence in the Collaborative Partnerships catergory.
2017ARA acquired 100% of CMC Property Services.

Meet OUR team
Managing Director, ARA Property Services
Paul has over 25 years’ extensive experience in commercial cleaning and property maintenance sectors and was the founder of CMC Property Services in 1994, which was acquired by the ARA Group in 2017, creating the seventh ARA Division, ARA Property Services.
Paul is an innovative and environmentally focused modern day executive with an ongoing commitment to continual innovation, technology, customer service and the environment. He is particularly passionate about leading and developing people and driving continuous improvement.
Paul has managed large contract portfolios, transitions and client relations over a long period. Paul has served on the BSCAA (Building Services Contractors Association of Australia) as an Executive for over 12 years and was the Victorian President for 2 years. Paul is a member of the FMA (Facility Management Association of Australia).
Executive General Manager, ARA Property Services
Shannon Laffey was appointed Executive General Manager of ARA Property Services in May 2023.
Shannon has over 25 years’ experience working across essential services sectors including power, water, gas, and renewable energy. He has held various roles in private and public businesses with extensive experience in operations and maintenance, project management, commercial and contract management, business development and strategic growth.
Shannon is an energetic and authentic leader, passionate about safety, continuous improvement, and business optimisation. Shannon is Lean Six Sigma Certified with a formal education in Business Administration.
Shannon is a member (MAICD) of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Dedicate People, Safety and Compliance Team
We are supported by an experienced team of safety professionals located across Australia. This team deals with all aspects of work health and safety, quality, and environmental management throughout ARA Property Services, and is always available to provide ongoing advice, coaching and support to our people leaders, employees, and subcontractors in identifying, managing, and preventing risks.
Like many of our clients, we have adopted the ICAM framework, and our safety team and many of our people leaders are ICAM trained and certified.
